About Us

The Lebanese Artists Association for Painters and Sculptures (LAAPS),
founded in 1952 and registered in 1957 under the name of “The Painters and Sculptures Society”.
It was given its current name within the framework of the Lebanese Academy 
of Fine Arts (1958) as a union and advocate group to promoter and claim for the organization of:

·         Galleries

·         National institutes of Fine Arts.

·         A corporation with the Ministry of Education through the creation of an “Agency for 

       the Promotion of Culture and Fine  Arts”.

·         Granting scholarships and awards to artists.

·         Organization of an annual exhibition: Le Salon Du Printemps, and Promotion of the Lebanese Art outside Lebanon.

·        The Association membership includes the majority of Lebanese artists, currently around 500 artists practicing 

       Painting, Sculpture, Assemblage, Calligraphy and Arabesques, Photography and New Media Art, 

       Pottery and glass artists...

·         Establishing an Agency at the Ministry of Education to organize the Annual Spring Exhibition (1954).

·         Organization of world exhibitions of Lebanese art abroad.

Pressing issues:

·         Activate the issue of the of Modern and Contemporary Art Museum.

·         Follow-up the laws that will improve the status of the artist with the Artists Association.

·         the establishment of an Arab conference to enhance communication frameworks.


Achievements of 2016:

·       “Art for Life” exhibition for the benefit of “Tamanna Association” under the patronage 

       and coordination of Artist Association.

·         Organization of painting school competition in kfarqatrah titled: 

       The mother and the nature including 80 students.

·         The visit of several artists from the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association and organizing exhibit ions for 

        them in Beirut and  Tyr.

·        The invitation of seven of the most important Egyptian artists to Lebanon, and organizing visits 

       and workshops with them in the Lebanese areas . At the end of this activities an exhibition was held 

       and there paintings became part of the Association holdings.

·         The Visual Art Forum VII at the UNESCO with the widest participation of great artists, with a remarkable success.

·         the start of an archiving process of files and documents of Artists Association, 

        giving a special card number for each artist once and cannot be changed.

·         widening the range of communication with civil society through cooperation with associations such 

        as the "Arab African Women association " to set up seminars and exhibitions highlighting the African arts.
